The Imps

In a good economy, it's tough to break into "The Industry."  In a bad economy, it's damn near impossible.

Or is it?

This blog is for the peons.  It's for the actors working the drive-through at McDonald's, the writers serving frappuccinos at Starbucks, the cinematographers shooting their friends' weddings.  It's for the harried assistants and frazzled interns.  It's for the grunts, the gophers, the errand boys, the lackeys, the flunkies, the serfs.  It's for every waiter at every Hollywood restaurant.  It's for every package of Top Ramen we ingest and every food stamp we don't tell our parents about.  It's for every time we pat our car on the dashboard and lovingly whisper, "Come on, baby, just a little farther, I promise I'll feed you soon."

It's for every kid who watched a TV show or movie and knew in the deepest part of their hearts that they wanted to be a part of that magic.

The veterans of the film and television industry have graciously donated their time to tell the rest of us not only how to survive, but how to succeed.  And even more--how to keep our souls and pride and artistry intact.

The truth of the matter is, not everyone is meant to make it in Hollywood.  And a lot of people come here for the wrong reasons.  But for those who have what it takes, here are some helpful nuggets of wisdom to help you through those long, horrible days, weeks, months, and years of drudgery.  And how to turn that drudgery into an inspiring creativity.
